V/A - TEARING THE WINGS OFF OF BUTTERFLIES
As the legend of Keith Brewer/Taint continues to grow in modern noise circles, it is preposterous how little anyone ever mentions “Tearing the Wings Off of Butterflies.”
Originally released on the aforementioned’s Taint Entertainment, what immediately strikes the listener is the sonic aggression that is palatable across the entirety of this compilation.
Featuring tracks by: Aube, AMK, C.C.C.C., Con-Dom, Emil Beaulieau, Evil Moisture, Human Skin Lanterns, Incapacitants, Macronympha, MSBR, Orifice Training, Putrefier, Smell & Quim, Sudden Infant, and Thirdorgan, some of which have never sounded so harsh before (or since), nor have some sounded so mean-spirited as they are here. It’s easy to picture the vile spirit of Brewer looming over each artist as they hit “record,” forcing their mix deeper into the seedy underbelly of the underground that very few (if any) have been able to replicate since.
Clear some space next to your copies of “Noise War” & “Music Should Hurt.” This is an essential document to your understanding of 90s noise history & culture, curated by one of its unique tastemakers.
Remastered and mixed from an original artist copy by Matt Ibarra of STR Mastering. All tracks have been cleared by all living artists.
20 page booklet housed in printed envelope with x2 C60 cassettes.
